PR and stretching buddies

Coogan's Shamrock, Salsa and Blues 5K - 29.58!!!

PR by something in the neighborhood of 10 minutes and made my goal of finishing under 30 minutes. By two entire seconds - I like to keep things interesting and clearly wanted to do the last .1 in a dead sprint(ish).

After eating a delicious green bagel, I came home to my stretching buddy:

Next up, the NYC half in two weeks!

Then I may return to the land of speedwork and some strength training, now that I've proven to myself I'm actually capable of running reasonable distances without walk breaks. I think I'll try to shoot for a sub-60-minute 10k by the mini in June!

  1. Sorry we missed each other - since we parked in a garage we wanted to get out quick to ensure no higher garage charges. Congrats on your accomplishment!!!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! Are you running the half as well? I'm not doing the full marathon this year, because I'm actually getting married the day before (11/3) but I'm doing the 9+1 through NYRR to get the automatic entry for 2013!

    3. it's a program for guaranteed entry into the marathon through NYRR (http://www.ingnycmarathon.org/about/9_1_guaranteed_entry.htm)

I hope your hip heals fast! Recovery for those things can feel like eternity!

  4. Great job on the 5K! I think I'd stretch more if I had a stretch buddy. I just have my goofy dog who won't stop licking me until I get off the floor. It's why I don't stretch. :)

    1. Charlie is such a pervy little guy - notice how I'm trying to rub his belly and he's trying to straddle my arm?

Most of the time he throws himself down on the floor while I'm stretching and the cuteness distracts me.
